Weekly Announcements

Dear Panther Parents and Guardians-

As a way to keep stakeholders aligned with what is occurring on the Gulfview Middle School campus, I will send a weekly e-mail to keep you posted on dates, events, and the happenings on our campus.

NOTES:

  • One last reminder- students brought home a folder with several items for you to review.  Most items can be accessed via the Parent Portal.  If you have any issues logging into the portal, please contact GVM, and we can assist.
  • Thank you to everyone who was able to attend Open House. I hope you found it a meaningful night.  Please reach out staff with any questions.
  • Reminder- there is no school next Monday, September 7, 2026.
  • Wednesday is our first dress-down day of the year.  For $3 students can be out of GVM standardized dress, but within CCPS’s dress code.  Students must have their GVM issued ID on to participate (no temporary badges).
  • Unfortunately, this time of the year has the potential for lightning dismissals.  In preparation, please remember the following when we are under lightning alert:
    • Walker and Bike Riders will report to the cafeteria until we are 'all clear'.
    • Car Riders should remain under any covering at the front of GVM until their ride has arrived at GVM.
    • Bus riders dismiss normally.
  • The first PTO meeting of the year is Wednesday, September 3rd at 9:10 AM in the cafeteria.
  • The PTO is looking for sponsorships for our perimeter gate banners.  Businesses and Eighth Grade Parents can purchase one with all funds going back to the school (please see attached with details).
  • Our generous PTO runs a school store twice a month during both lunches that serves to incentive our PBIS system at GVM.  If you are interested in helping supply items, or assist in working the store, please use the links below.
  • As we begin week 4 please take time to check your child's gradebook in FOCUS, and email teachers any/all questions or concerns.
  • Sixth Grade Parents/Guardians- Sixth graders will take part in Health Screenings on Tuesday, 9/8 via their World History Classes.
  • Champions for Learning is collecting nomination for Golden Apple, please considering filling out a card (in the front office or guidance) or use this link for an electronic submission: virtual nomination link
  • Club Rush Day for clubs and activities will be on 9/2, at 8:40 AM. Students will have the opportunity to visit booths and sign up for a variety of clubs and activities at GVM (I will send a list of clubs/activities, once finalized).
  • Please click HERE to see the parent letter with details on our first Progress Monitoring Assessment scheduled for 9/9.
  • Student will take their state progress monitoring assessment (F.A.S.T.) 3 times throughout the year in English/Language Arts and Math.  The first round of testing is scheduled from 9:15 AM-11:30 AM on the follow dates (attendance on these days is vital):
    • English/Language Arts- September 9, 2025
    • Math (except students in Algebra)- September 16, 2025
  • Algebra, Civics, and 8th grade Science will continue their benchmark testing, as they have done in the past, along with the end-of-the year EOC and SSA).
  • Our PTO is an integral part of the GVM community.  Please consider visiting the PTO website for updates on all ways it supports GVM, including Spirt Wear (which can be worn every Fridays).
  • Please assist GVM in ensuring students arrive at school each day prepared for success each day:
  1. In GVM Dress Code.
  2. GVM ID's and Lanyards on for the entirety of the day.
  3. Laptops fully charged.
  4. Cell phones powered off and put away from 9:00 AM to 3:50 PM.
  • 9/3- Club Rush
  • 9/7- No School Labor Day
  • 9/8- 6th grade Health Screening
  • 9/10- SAC Meeting, 5:00 PM
  • 9/11- Q1 Interim Period ends
  • 9/21- District Professional Learning Day, no students

Have a great week ahead.
