Weekly Announcements

Dear Panther Parents and Guardians-

As a way to keep stakeholders aligned with what is occurring on the Gulfview Middle School campus, I will send a weekly e-mail to keep you posted on dates, events, and the happenings on our campus.  If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to respond to the message.

NOTES: 

• Congratulations to our of Students of the Week: Carson Liebig, Caden McKimm, Sofia Lugo, and Gabrianna Clerizier.

• Big congratulations to our students and the incredible team for a successful PM1 for Math. Data is ahead of last year- although great news, it is a reminder of the work ahead, as maintaining or increasing student’s score will be that much more challenging.  However, our students will be well prepared.  I’ll send an overview to everyone once make-up assessments are completed.
• Tuesday, 9/22- F.A.S.T. make-up assessments for all needed students, 9:15 AM- 12:30 PM.

• Congratulations to Coach Moomaw and our Scholar Bowl Team for their second-place finish in our first competition this year.

• A big thank you to our incredible PTO for a successful 6^th Grade Ice Cream and Pizza Social.  Students had a blast.
• Seventh Grade Students will bring home permission slips for their Naples Artis trip on 10/1.  Please sign and return.

• Our PTO is organizing our 7^th Grade Fall Fest for October 15^th, from 4-4:45 PM in the cafeteria.  Look for permission slips to go home in the next couple of weeks.
• There is a General PTO Meeting on October 21^st at 9:10 AM.

• For Spirit Wear pre-orders, the Amazon Wish List for the School Store, and sign ups for the newsletter can be found on the PTO website:https://gulfviewpto.membershiptoolkit.com

• To help sustain our Middle School Athletic Programs, admission fees will be implemented for certain competitions this year.  The district has asked parents and guardians to review information using this link:  Middle School Athletics and/or the district email sent Friday afternoon. 

• Unfortunately, this time of the year has the potential for lightning dismissals.  In preparation, please remember the following when we are under lightning alert:
  • Walker and Bike Riders will report to the cafeteria until we are 'all clear'.
  • Car Riders should remain under any covering at the front of GVM until their ride has arrived at GVM.
  • Bus riders dismiss normally.

• Please assist GVM in ensuring students arrive at school each day prepared for success each day:

1. In GVM Dress Code.
2. GVM ID's and Lanyards on for the entirety of the day.
3. Laptops fully charged.
4. Cell phones powered off and put away from 9:00 AM to 3:50 PM.

• 9/26- Cross Country, 8:00 AM at Ave Maria.
• 9/26- Girls and Boys Volleyball, 9:00 AM vs. ENMS at LHS (please see district email with information on entrance fees).
• 9/29- School Picture Day

• 10/1- 7^th Grade to Naples Artis
• 10/9- End of Q1
• 10/12- Q1 Teacher Planning Day, no school
