Weekly Announcements

Dear Panther Parents and Guardians-

As a way to keep stakeholders aligned with what is occurring on the Gulfview Middle School campus, I will send a weekly e-mail to keep you posted on dates, events, and the happenings on our campus.  If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to respond to the message.

NOTES: 

• Congratulations to our of Students of the Week: Paisley Murray, Everett Arthur, Peter Bikos, and Brennan Foster (see attached picture).

• All Seventh Grade Students will attend a performance at the Naples Artis on Thursday morning.  Please sign and return their permission slip that was sent home last week.
• School Picture is Tuesday.  Students brought home orders forms last week.  A reminder- students must still be in GVM Standardized Dress. 
• Our October Dress Down Day is scheduled for next Wednesday, 10/7.
• Quarterly Benchmark Assessments are scheduled for the week of 10/5:
  • 10/6- Science
  • 10/7- Algebra
  • 10/8- Civics

• Our PTO is organizing our 7^th Grade Fall Fest for October 15^th, from 4-4:45 PM in the cafeteria.  Look for permission slips to go home in the next couple of weeks.
• There is a General PTO Meeting on October 21^st at 9:10 AM.

• For Spirit Wear pre-orders, the Amazon Wish List for the School Store, and sign ups for the newsletter can be found on the PTO website:https://gulfviewpto.membershiptoolkit.com

• To help sustain our Middle School Athletic Programs, admission fees will be implemented for certain competitions this year.  The district has asked parents and guardians to review information using this link:  Middle School Athletics and/or the district email sent Friday afternoon. 

• Unfortunately, this time of the year has the potential for lightning dismissals.  In preparation, please remember the following when we are under lightning alert:
  • Walker and Bike Riders will report to the cafeteria until we are 'all clear'.
  • Car Riders should remain under any covering at the front of GVM until their ride has arrived at GVM.
  • Bus riders dismiss normally.

• Please assist GVM in ensuring students arrive at school each day prepared for success each day:

1. In GVM Dress Code.
2. GVM ID's and Lanyards on for the entirety of the day.
3. Laptops fully charged.
4. Cell phones powered off and put away from 9:00 AM to 3:50 PM.

• 9/30- Cross Country, 5:30 PM at PRHS.
• 10/3- Girls and Boys Volleyball, 8:00 AM vs. CPMS at GCHS (please see district email with information on entrance fees).

• 10/8- SAC Meeting, 5:00 PM
• 10/9- End of Q1
• 10/12- Q1 Teacher Planning Day, no school
• 10/29- ERD at 12:50 PM
• 11/6- Q2 Interim Period Ends
• 11/23-11/27- Thanksgiving Break
