Weekly Announcements

Dear Panther Parents and Guardians-

As a way to keep stakeholders aligned with what is occurring on the Gulfview Middle School campus, I will send a weekly e-mail to keep you posted on dates, events, and the happenings on our campus.  If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to respond to the message.

Students of the week

NOTES:

  • Congratulations to our first group of Students of the Week: John Yegge, Elias Hernandez, Sophia Banas, and David Hatwell.
  • Wednesday, 9/19- F.A.S.T. ELA- PM1 for all students, 9:15 AM- 12:30 PM. Reminder F.A.S.T. Math- PM1 is scheduled for 9/16.
  • Please help remind students of the importance of PM1- it is not a starting point, rather the point where students left off from PM3 last year.  The assessment continues to be computer adaptive and will lessen or strengthen the complexity of the test questions/passages based on student responses.
  • On Friday, 9/11 students are encouraged to wear Red, White and/or Blue in celebration of Heroes’ Day.
  • Friday marks the end of the Q1 Interim Period- please take time to check your child's gradebook in FOCUS, and email teachers any/all questions or concerns.
  • Sixth Grade Parents/Guardians- Sixth graders will take part in Health Screenings on Tuesday, 9/8 via their World History Classes.
  • GVM had a successful Club Rush Day on Thursday, Ms. Bobrow will send a complete list of clubs.
  • Our PTO will host our annual 6th grade Ice Cream and Pizza Social after school on 9/17, from 4-4:45 PM in the cafeteria.  Tickets will be sold the week of 9/14 only during lunch.  Please look for permission forms to be sent home next Monday.
  • Unfortunately, this time of the year has the potential for lightning dismissals.  In preparation, please remember the following when we are under lightning alert:
    • Walker and Bike Riders will report to the cafeteria until we are 'all clear'.
    • Car Riders should remain under any covering at the front of GVM until their ride has arrived at GVM.
    • Bus riders dismiss normally.
  • Champions for Learning is collecting nomination for Golden Apple, please considering filling out a card (in the front office or guidance) or use this link for an electronic submission: virtual nomination link
  • Our PTO is an integral part of the GVM community.  Please consider visiting the PTO website for updates on all ways it supports GVM, including Spirt Wear (which can be worn every Fridays).
  • Please assist GVM in ensuring students arrive at school each day prepared for success each day:
  1. In GVM Dress Code.
  2. GVM ID's and Lanyards on for the entirety of the day.
  3. Laptops fully charged.
  4. Cell phones powered off and put away from 9:00 AM to 3:50 PM.
